Current Situation on the Miriam Fire: The Miriam Fire remains a full suppression fire. Cooler, moist weather has moderated fire behavior and minimum fire growth is anticipated throughout the day. The spot fire located on the east side of the Tieton River has a hose lay and sprinklers around the fire perimeter to keep the spot in check: the spot has not grown. The north and east flank of the fire line is in patrol and mop-up status. Aggressive firefighting continues around the remainder of the fire line.
Current Situation on the Clear Fork Fire: A low-intensity ground fire continues with slow, gradual spread along the fire perimeter. This fire will continue to be monitored closely by air.
Weather and Fire Behavior: Warm, dry conditions will continue throughout the day with no chance of precipitation. Light up-slope and up-valley terrain-driven winds with temperatures in the valleys warming to 70 degrees and relative humidity between 45% and 60% today. A dry cold front is predicted to pass through the area Wednesday, which could produce gusty winds to 25 mph and increase the potential for more smoke to be seen from the local area.
Evacuations: Evacuation levels remain unchanged. The need for these levels are evaluated daily. Please see the Yakima
Closures: Area closures are in effect on the Okanogan-Wenatchee and Gifford Pinchot National Forests. Maps and a list of affected areas can be found at inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6066. Fire restrictions are in effect and can be found at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/fire-restrictions. The Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Elk Pass to White Pass. A detour is available. Please see the Pacific Crest Trail Association website at www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail/closures for current closure maps. A Temporary Flight Restriction remains in place over the two fire areas as a safety precaution to aerial firefighting resources. Please check tfr.faa.gov before you fly.
