Percent Containment: 60%    Start Date: July 30, 2018   On the Miriam Fire today, firefighters will focus on patrol, mop up, and monitoring for spot fires following yesterday’s gusty winds. Repair of roads impacted by firefighting activity is being done to the north and east of the Miriam Fire. Crews are expected to finish slash removal and chipping along road 1204 today. The slow movement of the Clear Fork Fire continues to be monitored by air. Crews will be attentive to the predicted gusty west-northwest winds, a significant change from yesterday’s southwest winds. Personnel/Resources: 6 hand crews, 2 helicopters, 8 engines, 1 dozer, 4 water tenders (227 total personnel) Location: Two miles east of White Pass Ski Area, within the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Naches Ranger District, 13 miles east of Packwood, WA Cause: Lightning Values at Risk: White Pass Ski Resort and area; recreational cabins, camps and resorts on Clear and Rimrock Lakes; State Highway 12; Goat Rocks Wilderness; and northern spotted owl, bull trout, and other wildlife habitat Estimated Incident Containment or completion: September 30, 2018 Smoke Information: Cooler, wetter weather will moderate smoke over the next couple of days. For further smoke information visit wasmoke.blogspot.com/p/state.html Current Situation: Due to windy conditions yesterday, fire activity increased in the southwest corner of the Miriam fire and the Scatter Creek area. Short uphill runs and isolated torching created columns of smoke but all fire lines held. The spot fire east of the Tieton River remained quiet with the sprinkler system remaining in operation. Close monitoring of the Clear Fork Fire showed minimal torching and slow growth along the ground. Weather and Fire Behavior: Today will be mostly cloudy with cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Periods of very light rain are expected. Winds from the west-northwest will be less than 10 mph with gusts up to 18 mph along the ridgetops. Friday and Saturday are expected to be mostly clear. Evacuations: Evacuation levels are evaluated daily, but remain unchanged.
