Northwest Fire Weather Summary
The thunderstorm threat continues today for Oregon mainly east of the Cascades, spreading to include portions of Eastern Washington this afternoon and evening. Storms may persist overnight on the East side with potential diminishing throughFriday evening as the area of convection moves east. Little rain is expected with the thunderstorms, so any lightning should be efficient in starting fires. General Westerly winds will pick up a little as the system passes through Friday, generating some gusts east of mountain gaps. Erratic, gusty winds should be expected in the vicinity of thunderstorms. The weekend will see a short warming trend before another marine push enters the area early next week. Check the latest NWS forecasts and advisories for timing and details for your area.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Potential for dry lightning combined with elevated fire danger indices will challenge initial attack resources and bring high risk for development of new large, costly fires today into tomorrow. General winds should remain relatively low except where channeled by topography, but gusty outflow winds from thunderstorms could further complicate fire management efforts on initial attack and existing fires.
