Acres: 4,000 Personnel: 25
Yesterday: Cooler temperatures and higher humidity produced very little fire growth over the past 24 hours. Additional resources have trickled in to assist in line preparations. Operations Today: As more resources continue to arrive, firefighters and heavy equipment will be improving fuel breaks. Firefighters from the Washington Department of Natural Resources and Nile Fire Department will also continue to assess residences around the Nile community and Rattlesnake areas. Gusty winds may cause the fire to become more active, however, temperatures will remain cool with higher humidity which helps to moderate fire behavior. Public Meeting Announcement: A public meeting providing information about this fire is planned at the Nile-Cliffdell Fire Station 11 at 5:00 p.m. today, Saturday, August 7. To operate safely in a COVID-19 environment, we encourage those outside of the Nile-Cliffdell area to view the recorded meeting at https://www.facebook.com/SchneiderSpringsFire later that evening. Individuals may submit questions which will be answered during the public meeting; submit questions to se.wa.t1.info@gmail.com no later than 3:00 p.m. Closures: A temporary area closure is in place for the fire area and national forest lands adjacent to it. Forest Service Roads #1500, #1600, #1700, and #1800 are closed. For further details and a map of the closure area, please visit https://tinyurl.com/2hjd6ws2. Smoke Information: The Forest Service works closely with other federal and state partners to predict and mitigate smoke impacts on individuals and communities during wildfires, visit https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/ for local air quality information.
