Contact: Windy Pass Fire Information at (509) 800-7177, 8AM-8PM
Acres: 119
Personnel: 86
Containment: 15%
Closures: Pending

Operations Yesterday: Minimal fire growth occurred due to a low cloud layer, light precipitation, and cool temperatures. Firefighters began hand line construction along the west side of the fire down to the North Fork Taneum Trail #1377. Line improvement continued along Trail #1377 to the south of the fire. Fire personnel identified potential areas to construct effective containment line around the north and east sides of the fire. Firefighters overnighted at a spike camp close to the fire to minimize travel time. Fire resources are working on a full-suppression strategy with a limited number of resources.

Operations Today: Firefighters will continue to prep fire line to the west and south and will begin constructing containment line to the southeast of the fire along Trail #1377. Heavy equipment will begin improvements to the 4510 Road as a contingency line to the northeast. Structure protection will begin for the Taneum Shelter, which is located to the southwest of the fire footprint.

Priorities remain firefighter and public safety as Forest Service personnel will continue to notify forest visitors on roads in the fire area. A Forest closure order is anticipated for the Taneum and Manastash drainages.

Weather: Cooler temperatures and higher humidity are expected through the weekend. Today will be partly sunny with a slight chance of rain showers. Chances of wetting rain are low. Winds will be breezy with gusts in the 25-30 mph range.
