Crews Make Good Progress on Lone Pine Fire
Madras, Ore– Firefighters on the Lone Pine Fire, which began burning just before noon yesterday on the Crooked River National Grassland approximately 2 miles east of Gray Butte, made good progress yesterday on the fire and saw no fire growth overnight.
The fire was mapped at 900 acres last evening. It continues to burn in grass, brush and some timber. Crews are securing line around the fire today and are optimistic for continued success on the fire.
Resources on the fire today are three 20-person hand crews, 8 engines, a water tender and various overhead personnel. Aircraft currently is not being used, but may be used later in the day.
A portion of Lone Pine Road was closed to allow for fire traffic and Skull Hollow Campground is not available to campers.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
