Chetco Bar Fire Information, (541) 247-3680

Very hot temperatures in the area surrounding and over the Chetco Bar Fire will persist through this evening, with highs above 100 degrees at most valleys west of the Cascades.
The Chetco Bar Fire is 4,228 acres. An IR flight over the fire last night allowed for an accurate measurement of the fire acres. The fire is located in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.
Widespread smoke will be visible in the vicinity of the Chetco Bar fire and surrounding areas. Smoke from the fire is expected to drift to the southwest in the morning then push to the east in the afternoon. The air quality index in communities around the fire is expected to be moderate today around Agness, Cave Junction, Selma, and Grants Pass, good in Gold Beach and Brookings. Tomorrow’s air quality index is much the same with the exception of Agness shifting into the good range.
Closure orders remain in effect for the forest. Please go here for all forest orders including those that pertain to the Chetco Bar Fire: http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/rogue-siskiyou/alerts-notices
