Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Across the majority of the region ERCs remain at record values. Smoke and clouds will diminish fire activity today in some areas, areas that clear will see activity increase. Southwestern Oregon is very likely to experience another round of copious lightning, some with wetting rain. Lightning is also expected to nudge northward along the Cascades. Wednesday through Friday remains the primary time of concern for significant lightning and fire starts over most of the region as a low pressure trough approaches from the west. Models differ regarding how fast the moisture and instability move east of the region. However, there is high confidence that, at least the west side, will see relief from the heat and thunderstorm threat beginning this weekend.
