Incident Objectives continue to be met on Diamond Creek Fire
Current Activities: Today at 6:00 a.m. Type 3 Incident Commander Gabe Holguin transferred command of the Diamond Creek Fire to local Type 3 Incident Commander Rob Kephart from the Okanagan-Wanatchee National Forest Supervisors Office.
North Cascades Smokejumpers completed trail clearing suppression repair work around the Pasayten Airfield during yesterday’s operation. Resources also completed suppression repair in the Hidden Lakes area. Heavy equipment continues suppression repair of contingency line south of the fire area. As with previous operational periods, resource advisors will continue evaluation of the remaining suppression repair activities. Air and ground resources will continue to monitor fire activity. Various heavy equipment and overhead personnel remain assigned to the fire.
Today a flight over the fire area is scheduled with a BAER Team. Completion of the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) assessment over the coming days and weeks will address public safety.
Weather: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain or snow showers. Snow levels should be around 5000ft. High temperatures 5500-6500ft will be 45-50 degrees. Slope Valley winds will be northwest 2 to 5 mph.
Closures: AREA CLOSURE STILL IN EFFECT. Most roads on the south side of Diamond Creek Fire are now open, effective September 26, 2017. Maps have been posted to the Diamond Creek Fire InciWeb and Facebook pages. The Area Closure boundary has not changed.
