MORO, OR –
Winds continued to be a factor overnight with gusts in the 35-mph
range. Cool nighttime temperatures slowed the growth of the fire
overnight. Fire crews worked through the night to protect homes and
farmland.
Today
firefighters will continue to look for opportunities to slow this fire
using air resources, hand crews and fire engines. Air resources will be
dropping water to cool the fire and will use retardant to slow its
advance. Engines will use point protection tactics and direct attack to
protect structures while hand crews work to remove fuels ahead of the
fire. Fire bosses also have dozers available today to help create fire
breaks. Weather conditions are expected to be similar to yesterday;
humidity will decrease as temperatures increase and winds will continue
within the same range.
Due to smoky conditions visibility in the area is extremely low. Drivers are advised to turn on lights and to increase following distance between vehicles.
