7/21/2018 Upriver Beacon Fire

Firefighters are on the fire line for one last patrol of containment lines this morning as work wraps up on the Upriver Beacon Fire. Firefighters will have completed mop up work 300 feet around all structures and 100 feet in around the entire fire perimeter.
Camp Sekani and Shields Park Climbing Rocks are now open. The parks department is advising citizens to stay clear of the areas of the parks that have burned for their safety. All previous evacuation orders have been lifted. There are no road closures.
The Upriver Beacon fire began at 4pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 near the 6400 block of East Upriver Drive. Crews stopped the fire at 115 acres that evening. Washington State Fire Mobilization was approved and resources from across the state have arrived – those resources continue to work on the fire.
Currently there are over 87 personnel assigned to the fire. The fire is 90% contained. Spokane County Fire District 9 and the Northeast Washington Interagency Type 3 IMT are in unified command of the incident.
