Northwest Fire Weather Summary
The latest thunderstorm threat will gradually diminish and move eastward into Idaho late Friday evening leaving the region without much threat of new fire starts on Saturday. However, on Sunday a new lightning pattern will develop which appears more likely to cause lightning strikes in Western Oregon and Washington throughMonday. Overall, the weather appears poised to remain dry but no major windstorms are expected for the foreseeable future.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
With fire danger remaining at or near record values over much of the region, additional lightning will result in elevated potential for new large fires wherever it occurs. Holdover fires from recent thunderstorms will also contribute to the fire workload right into next week. The region does not appear to be at risk of major wind events but no relief is in sight from extreme fire danger.
