Starting today, due to the decrease in fire activity, updates will begin to be released every other day.
Reminder about Drones: If you fly, we can’t. All aerial suppression efforts are grounded when drones are detected within the restricted flight area of the fire.
Yesterday: The cooler, wetter weather this weekend helped decrease fire activity. Much of the firefighters’ efforts will now focus on rehab, repair, monitoring and patrol. Crews finished much of the chipping operations along the southern and northern perimeter. They will chip along the northwestern edge of the fire for the next couple of days. Four excavators were brought in to repair dozer lines. Road crews continued to spread gravel and repair damaged roads.
The BAER Team (Burned Area Emergency Response) is on site to assess damage and develop a recommendation plan to address stabilization and other recovery issues for the fire area. To find out more about the work of BAER team on the Twentyfive Mile Fire, please visit https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7846/.
Weather and Fire Behavior: Sunday was the last day of the cool, damp, cloud-cover weather. High pressure will build over the region Monday and Tuesday. Daytime temperatures in the valleys will return to 70 plus degrees. The higher elevations will also have warmer temperatures accompanied by light winds. Minimal fire growth is expected. Fuels are starting to return to seasonal moisture levels and are requiring more heat to burn.
Evacuations: Effective at noon on September 13, all remaining evacuation notices related to the Twentyfive Mile Fire were removed. For more information, contact Chelan County Emergency Management, or follow their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CCSOEM.
Closures: The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has issued an emergency fire closure for some lands in the vicinity of the Twentyfive Mile Fire. This closure is needed to provide for public and firefighter safety. Please check the interactive map of emergency closures when planning an outing: tinyurl.com/25mileforest
