Location: 43.619500, -121.613667, approximately 1.5 miles south of Cottonwood Canyon State Park, on the John Day River

Jurisdiction:  Bureau of Land Management, State of Oregon, Private Lands

Fire Size:  2500 Acres

Cause: Under Investigation

Fuels: Grass, brush

Structures/Evacuations: The John Day River is not closed through the area, approximately River Mile 40 to 48.  However, active water dipping by helicopters from the River will be taking place for several days.  Boaters are asked to not stop or linger in the active fire zone and follow all direction from on-site Fire personnel. 

Containment:  0%

Fire Crews/Resources: Interagency fire crews are suppressing the new wildfire start with the following resources:

3 Hotshot Crews

3 Engines

2 Helicopters
