Northwest Activity Summary

Record or near record heat across the northwest with thunderstorms and abundant lightning in the Oregon cascades, southern and eastern Oregon with only light widely scattered precipitation. Light initial attack activity with 12 fires reported. Two large fires are uncontained.

Draw OR-FWF-000136. IMT3. 20 mi NE of Chiloquin, OR. Start: 6/5. Full Suppression. Cause: unknown. 500 acres (+498). 0% containment. Timber/brush. Active fire behavior with group torching and spotting.

Incidents Previously Reported: 1

Owyhee Canyon OR-VAD-000020. IMT3, 4 mi S of Rome, OR. Start 6/5. Full Suppression. Cause: lightning. 20,495 acres (+8,495) acres. 50% containment. Brush/grass. Active fire behavior. Sage-grouse habitat and wild and scenic river threatened.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary

High pressure with temperatures well above normal through and a chance of thunderstorms in southern and eastern Oregon and creeping into Washington. The heat will relent in the middle of the week with cooler but breezy conditions with chances of showers and thunderstorms.
