6/22/2016 Wildland Fire Minute

Welcome to the June 17, 2016, Wildland Fire Minute! This is YOUR regular update on the latest wildfire conditions in the Pacific Northwest.

Mother Nature has given us a reprieve from the record high temperatures we saw across the Pacific Northwest in early June. That said, dry conditions still exist in many parts of the region, and as we head into fire season, we all need to do our part to prevent unwanted human-caused fires. This year alone in Oregon and Washington, we’ve had 432 human-caused fires, compared to 100 lightning starts.

As fireworks go on sale and people begin planning their Fourth of July festivities, we want to remind you to know the fire restrictions before you go. Fireworks are prohibited on most federal lands, including those managed by BLM and the US Forest Service.
