No growth in Lone Pine Fire Monday
There was no growth on the Lone Pine Fire Monday with crews reinforcing line around the fire. The fire is approximately 900 acres and is currently 15% contained.
Today isolated islands of vegetation within the fire perimeter continued to burn with some single-tree torching being observed by firefighters. The Lone Pine Road remains closed as smoke from the fire continues to impact visibility and winds from the north are pushing on the southern containment line near the road and Skull Hollow Campground.
Some burn out operations occurred on the fire today primarily in order to secure the line. Tomorrow crews will continue to secure line around the perimeter by mopping up the lines.
Resources on the fire have remained fairly steady throughout the day with three 20-person hand crews, 8 engines, a water tender and various overhead personnel.
The public is asked to be thoughtful of dry fuels when enjoying any outdoor activities at this time of year. A single spark in dry grass can cause a wildfire in Central Oregon.
