Northwest Fire Weather Summary
An upper level trough will move across the area today starting a cooling trend through the weekend. Gusty westerly winds started picking up late yesterday and will peak this afternoon/evening along and downstream of mountain gaps. Little precipitation will accompany this system, but there is some chance for showers through the weekend as another trough passes over. Check the latest National Weather Service advisories and forecasts for details for your area.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The cool, moist air moving into the region will bring fire danger indices down from near-record levels to around seasonally average levels throughout the region by early next week. Gusty westerly winds this afternoon and evening could lead to challenges in wind prone areas, especially through the Columbia Gorge and Basin and the Kittitas Valley. The wind should also clear some smoke out of the area, which could allow for more active fire behavior.
