Northwest Fire Weather Summary
The warming trend continues today with temperatures peaking mid-week as an upper level ridge builds back into the region. Little if any precipitation is expected during the work week. Although timing is still uncertain, the ridge is forecast to break down Friday/Saturday as an upper level trough sweeps across the region.  The system will produce breezy to windy conditions and potential for showers and thunderstorms.  See your local NWS fire weather planning forecast for the details in your local area.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Continued heating and drying will keep the Pacific Northwest at or above normal risk for development of significant fires through the week.  General winds should not be a problem until the upper level ridge breaks down near the end of the week.  That break down after several hot, dry days will come with gusty winds and a chance of thunderstorms, further elevating the risk of significant fires.  Any lightning should be efficient at starting new fires, and the winds could cause hold-overs from lightning last weekend to flare up, challenging initial attack resources.
