Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Warm, dry weather returns today and Friday as upper level ridging builds. An unseasonably deep trough of low pressure will descend into the region Friday night into Saturday, bringing much cooler air and increasing chances for showers. Winds will pick up again on Friday afternoon and remain breezy to windy Saturday. Showers increase Sunday, as will potential for afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Showery weather will linger into the beginning of next week.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Significant fire potential generally remains at or below seasonal normal levels through the week. Breezy to windy conditions Friday afternoon and Saturday could spread grass fires in areas that have received less beneficial rain lately. Fire behavior concerns will be concentrated in fine fuels with exposed slopes and accumulations of thatch. Storm activity later in the weekend may increase fire spread and change direction of spread suddenly. Due to good humidity recovery burn periods should remain short.
