Hotter and drier conditions are expected for the region on Thursday and will worsen through the weekend. Fire danger indices are expected to climb for the next several days over much of the geographic area. A significant number of new fire starts are expected beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend as lightning and instability move in from the south. Moderate to heavy initial attack activity is forecast first for Oregon and then for Washington along with a number of large fires before this episode is finished.
