Fire containment is 40 percent. Firefighters are poised to take advantage of favorable
conditions in the coming days to secure line on the western and south side of the fire.
Yesterday’s Activities: The fire was active, experiencing some growth in its interior
northwest of the pumice desert due to NE winds in the late afternoon. This activity posed no
threat to park visitors and visibility was good on the west flank. Firefighters completed
constructing fire line and continued to connect to natural features and FS Road 6530. They
continued to mop up 35 to 40 feet inside of containment lines. Crews also scouted for
containment opportunities to the south of the fire.
Today’s Activities: Firefighters will finish constructing fire line the west of the fire to
prepare for a small burnout operation which will take place today if conditions allow. Crews
will take advantage of existing features and road systems to improve containment and will
continue looking for spotting outside of containment lines, mop up any hot spots and patrol
along Highway 230, Hwy 138 and the North Park Entrance Road.
Weather: Cooler temperatures and high humidity this morning with cloud cover. Predicted wetting rain with unsettled conditions after
midnight and into Saturday. North/northwest winds gusting to 30 mph at ridgetops.

suggested reroute is posted along the trail.
