Containment
Expected on Juntura Complex Today
Vale, Ore. – The wildfires comprising the
Juntura Complex are expected to be contained today. The Juntura Complex, now being
managed by the Vale District Bureau of Land Management (BLM), began last Sunday
after lightning storms came through the area.
There has been no growth at the Juntura Complex over the last
several days, keeping the fires at around 24,300 acres in size. Additionally,
the Juntura Complex was downgraded to a Type 4 wildfire.
Wildland Fire Types indicate the complexity of a given fire, Type
1 Fires being the most complex, and Type 5 being the least complex.
At its most active, the Juntura Complex was designated a Type 2
wildfire and was managed by a Type 2 Incident Management Team, the Northwest
Interagency Incident Management Team 13 (NWIIMT 13). Management of the Juntura
Complex was handed back to the Vale BLM yesterday morning.
Agency resources remain on the fire to ensure containment and control,
including a task force of engines and hand crews.
