Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Although the arriving air mass will be much cooler, the combination of gusty winds and low humidity will promote active fire behavior today and Thursday.
Gusty northwest winds today will becoming more northerly on Thursday; remaining gusty into Friday for southeast Oregon. Expect the strongest winds in the higher elevations; especially across the northern Cascades and Okanogan Valley.
High pressure will bring near normal temperatures and lighter winds for the weekend, accompanied by minimal fire activity or threat for significant fire growth.
Another dip in temperatures, along with chances for wetting rain, arrives late Sunday over northwest Washington, spreading into areas west of the CascadesMonday.
Overall cooler and wetter than normal conditions expected will allow for ERC values, along with probability of significant fire potential, to drop dramatically this weekend and into next week.
