Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Rain is expected for much of Washington and northern Oregon on Sunday with a clearing, drying trend on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will continue to be cooler than average. Westerly general winds will continue over the Columbia Basin and much of the region. However, southwest Oregon will experience northerly general winds with poorer nighttime humidity recovery on higher ridges. Isolated wet thunderstorms are possible at times mainly over Washington, but strikes are not anticipated to be numerous.

Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Energy Release Component values are at or below average for mid-September due to recent wetter, cooler weather. Southwest Oregon (PSA NW04) and southeast Oregon (PSA NW12) will likely continue to have the highest fire danger. Initiation of new large fires on the landscape appears low because of a lack of critical combinations associated with low humidity, high fire danger, and sufficient ignition sources.
