Northwest Fire Weather Summary
A cold front will move across the region today with clearing and drying on Sunday. Rain is expected for Western Washington but diminishing southward in Western Oregon. Little rain is likely east of the Cascades. Temperatures will remain on the cool side until high pressure begins to rebuild next week. This will lead to a warming and drying trend with gusty easterly winds expected at times for the Cascades and Southwest Oregon.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Fire danger will remains steady or will drop slightly across the region on Saturday and Sunday. ERC values are near normal for this time of September so the potential for new large fires remains minimal over the weekend with this cold front and its immediate aftermath. However, during the new week fire danger will rise significantly due to the onset of much drier weather and gusty easterly winds at times over the Cascades. This mainly poses a threat of flare-ups for ongoing fire incidents in the Cascades and Southwest Oregon.
