Northwest Fire Potential Summary
The respite in active burning conditions and critical fire weather will continue into the weekend with the arrival of a cooler and moister air mass. Westerly winds will also prevail over next 48 hours bringing more stable conditions that will also aid in limiting significant fire growth.

Lingering showers, along with isolated thunderstorms, will push over areas generally east of the Cascades today into tonight. Despite the rain and increased humidity, the combination of dry conditions and threat for lightning starts will keep risk level elevated for new large fires east of the Cascades. See your local fire weather forecast for the details on upcoming lightning. Fortunately, the downtrend in fire danger will work in the favor of initial attack firefighters.
