Bunker Hill Complex Update
Bunker Hill Complex Crews Make Progress, Firefighters Take Quick Action on Initial Attack
Roseburg, OR  July 5, 2015 – The Bunker Hill Complex is currently 90% contained as crews continue to make good progress on mop up and repair operations around the perimeter of the fire. Fire activity was minimal on the Fourth of July leading to a lessened amount of smoke. Recreationists can still expect to see smoke from the incident mainly from the eastern portion of the fire as there are pockets of interior fuels that continue to smolder. Closure orders remain in effect for the Bunker Hill Complex. Detailed closure information can be found at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/Umpqua.

Although the Bunker Hill Complex is being mopped up crews continue to quickly respond to new starts across the Forest. One new lightning holdover fire of one-tenth acre was detected and contained west of Rodley Butte on the Diamond Lake District. The past three days there have been four new small fires across the Forest and firefighters remain vigilant in responding to new smoke reports.
The risk of wildfires remains as the hot dry weather and a chance of thunderstorms will continue into next week. For your safety, we ask the public to stay informed on current and predicted conditions as well as Public Use Restrictions when enjoying the outdoors
