DATE: September 5, 2015 TIME: 0700
SIZE: 67,207 acres CONTAINMENT: 97%
ASSIGNED PERSONNEL: 465
INCIDENT COMMANDER: Dorian Soliz/Lionel Smith (trainee)
NARRATIVE:
There were pockets of rain and hail on the fire yesterday. The precipitation and cool temperatures allowed fire crews to make good progress on mop-up objectives.
Shitike Canyon is the main focus for fire crews today. Weather conditions should provide another good opportunity to extend mop-up distances around the fire perimeter. Cool temperatures will continue for the fire area. Showers are predicted for early in the day with some clearing in the afternoon. Winds could be fairly strong out of the NE at 14 to 20 mph with gusts to 28 mph.
Fire managers continue to emphasize fire fighter safety. Fire fighters need to monitor their surroundings to ensure they recognize hazards and take precautions to either mitigate or avoid those conditions.
The number of personnel on the fire is expected to decrease over the next several days as fire crews reach the end of their tour-of-duty. No additional resources will be ordered to back fill for these crews.
