9/18/2015 Wolverine Fire Update

A post-fire recovery meeting will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at Chelan High School on 215 Webster Avenue. Representatives from Washington State University, Chelan County Sheriffs Office of Emergency Management, the Washington Department of Natural Resources and fire managers will be present to discuss post-fire effects.
The Wolverine Fire area received precipitation yesterday with most rain gauges measuring about 0.1 inches.  According to fire behavior analysts, the Wolverine Fire will only grow significantly if a continuous warming and drying trend were to develop.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to drive with caution, as fire traffic will be present in both the Wolverine and First Creek fire areas.
Wolverine Fire:  Fire managers expect minimal fire activity for the next few days, and a few interior smokes may be seen.  Pumps, hose and other equipment used for structure protection along the upper shores of Lake Chelan will be removed by boat.  Additionally, firefighters will remove slash and other material cut during the construction of contingency lines.
First Creek Fire:  Erosion control and fire repair work continues.  Yesterday’s rain is expected to help erosion control efforts by making soil more pliable for water bar construction.  The threat of mudslides with any significant rain over the burn scars is present.  For more information, log onto www.centralwashingtonfirerecovery.info/floodwatch.
Blankenship:  Some mid-slope smokes may be visible and the fire will be monitored by air.  The Pacific Crest Trail remains open.
Weather:  Warm, dry weather is forecast for Friday and Saturday.
Evacuation Information: All evacuation levels in Chelan County have been lifted.
Closures:  Some roads and areas will remain closed for public safety and fire restrictions remain in effect. Check the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest webpage for updates on forest closures.
