9/17/2015 National Complex Update

  • Yesterday, there was little fire activity due to the rain and snow, while crews continued to mop up and scout for a good place to tie the line from the south east fire edge to the south side of the Pumice Desert.
  • The rain totals over the fire were between .001 and .12 of an inch.
  • Forecast for today is for more wetting rain and snowfall at 6500 feet.
  • Friday through Sunday the weather will warm up 10-15 degrees higher and the fire area will once again start drying.
  • Crews will continue to mop up the perimeter of the fire, going direct if necessary.
  • Firefighters will secure line along the southern border and will resume work constructing direct line along the SE boarder of the fire to Pumice Desert.

The Crater Lake National Park North Entrance road and the PCT trail remain open. If you plan to visit the area you may want to check out the Crater Lake National Park web page (http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm) or call the fire information number (541) 600-4089.
