Scattered smoke from within the interior of the fire is visible in Shitike Canyon.
Throughout the entire fire area, crews will grid a distance of 200-300 feet into the interior of the fire looking for hotspots that require mop-up. In addition, crews will be removing un-needed equipment (“back haul”) from the fire lines. The west end of the fire, in Shitike Canyon, consists of steep forested land with heavy fuels. This area requires more work to ensure the fire line is secure.
The number of assigned personnel has increased to 478. Additional hand crews arrived to the fire to relieve the crews who will be ending their fire tour-of-duty in the next few days.
Today’s temperature will range from 57-64 degrees. There is a 50% chance of precipitation by the afternoon.
