9/06/2015 Wolverine Fire Update

Community Meeting:Tonight there will be a public meeting in Spanish at 6:30 pm at the Spanish Assembly of God, 55 S. Quetilquasoon Rd, in Manson.
Note: The Pacific Crest Trail is now open on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Forest closures are still in place but have been modified. Please check the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest webpage for details.
The businesses around Lake Wenatchee are open this holiday weekend. As fire behavior diminishes, we ask you to remember that fire restrictions remain in effect. Increasing winds and temperatures may usher in more active fire behavior in drought-stricken fuels. Please remain vigilant and prevent human-caused wildfires.
First Creek: Crews continue patrolling for any hot spots and rehabilitating fire lines. We ask residents to remember that interior smokes will continue to occur. As residents return to the First Creek area, they are asked to be aware of the possibility of mudslides following any rain events.Visit http://www.centralwashingtonfirerecovery.info/floodwatchor contact your local Emergency Management for more information on mudslides.
Wolverine: The fire did not experience the strong winds that were seen in the valley corridor yesterday. Fire behavior remained docile and continued to smolder. Hotshot crews are working on an indirect line west of the Entiat drainage along the southwest flank of the fire. Crews will continue to improve the Community Protection Line, a vegetated fuel break that is being thinned and brushed, leaving mature trees in place with spacing between them. This line will assist in the firefighting efforts as well as meeting long term objectives as a possible option in future fire containment.
Weather: A disturbance is passing south of the fire area today, bringing clouds, higher humidity and the varying amounts of rain to different areas of the fire. Winds are expected to gust up to 20 mph along the ridges, but moisture in the atmosphere and cloudy skies are expected to minimize the fire’s growth potential.
Evacuation/Aid Information:LEVEL 1 areas: Entiat River Road starting at approximately mile post 21.5 (Brief) up to the end of Entiat River Road. First Creek Road and South Shore from Morning Sun Drive to Shady Pass.
