9/10/2015 Carpenter Road Fire Update

A Community Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 10th, 6:00 PM in Valley at the Valley School. A current update on the Carpenter Road Fire will be given and an opportunity to ask questions will be provided. Please come join us.
Current Situation:
The Carpenter Road Fire remains estimated at 65,068 acres and is 90% contained.
Work to repair alternate containment line is ongoing. Alternate dozer lines and hand lines are repaired by pulling berms (edges) and installing water bars. Water bars are being installed to divert run off water along fire lines on steep slopes, and off of roads that were opened for fire suppression.
Crews are systematically patrolling in lined patterns (gridding) to search for and suppress hot spots. Hand held infrared cameras are being used to detect heat along the perimeter of the fire and near structures. As temperatures increase and relative humidity drops, additional smokes are expected to become visible. Firefighters will remain vigilant to locate these heat sources and cool them within 100 ft. of the fire perimeter and 200 ft. within structures. Backhauling of hose and supplies, no longer being used, will continue around the fire.
Demobilization of excess resources will continue over the next few days as the suppression repair work wraps-up.
