9/3/2018 Taylor Creek/Klondike Fire Update

Fire Update – Monday, September 3, 2018 – 8:00 a.m.
Although weather conditions were more conducive to fire activity on Sunday,
a large air operation successfully prevented significant acreage gains. Air tankers
made a total of 38 retardant drops on the fire and treated a primary control line for
planned strategic firing operations along the ridge west of Inigo Creek.
On Sunday the fire made a mile-long run to the west into a bowl near Game Lake
and continued creeping to the northeast against the wind.

Structure protection continues in Agness. Nine engines and five hand crews are

assigned to the night shift near Agness to patrol and monitor.

A Red Flag Warning will remain in effect through
Monday morning at 11:00 A.M.
Conditions favorable for high fire activity will continue at least through mid-week.
Crews will continue to reduce fuels available to the fire. No tactical firing operations
will be started until weather conditions are favorable.

The General Control Objective for the Klondike Fire is a full suppression strategy.

Reducing the possible footprint of the fire size is the planned end state. With limited
options for direct attack, alternatives have been put in place for tactical fire operations
with check lines to slow fire spread.

Evacuation Information
The evacuation level in the Agness Zone is 2 - Be Set.
