Northwest Activity Summary
Temperatures were above average and accompanied by breezier conditions later in the week. A trace of moisture and a couple of lightning strikes in northeast Washington occurred early in the week. Partly cloudy to clear skies daily. Initial attack activity was light, but a few new starts required extended attack resources and posed problems to communities and resources. One new large fire was reported. Prescribed fire activity increased.

Northwest Fire Weather Summary
Unseasonably warm, dry weather continues today and Saturday before a cooling trend starts west of the Cascades Sunday, then region-wide Monday. By mid-week, a showery pattern will set up for the remainder of the week.
Northwest Fire Potential Summary
Concern for prescribed fire and backyard fire escapes continues with easterly winds around the Willamette Valley today, but then as the cooler, moist pattern sets in, fire danger indices will improve and bring the risk of significant fires to below normal seasonal levels. Units should request and review NWS spot weather forecasts in preparation for prescribed fire operations.
