Staley Complex Fire Information
Rocky Mountain Interagency Incident Management Team A (Type 2) took command of the Staley Complex Fires at 7:00 a.m. Friday morning. The team is setting up the Incident Command Post (ICP) at the Hills Creek Fire Camp. "Our team really appreciates the excellent work done by the Southern Cascades Type 3 Team and the quality of their transition package," said Chuck Russell, Incident Commander. "The suppression effort is well underway and they've really helped set us up for success," Russell added.
Today's Activities: Fire suppression operations and the construction of indirect line in the area surrounding the Staley Fire have been split into three divisions. On the smaller Davey Fire, crews are scouting opportunities for indirect and contingency lines.
Weather and Fire Behavior: The level of fire activity on the Staley Complex Fires is increasing as a gradual warming and drying trend seen in recent days continues. The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch and is forecasting a multi-day lightning event that will begin Sunday.
Closures: The Oakridge airport is closed to civilian aircraft and a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) is in effect due to fire related helicopter traffic.
Road and Area Closures are in effect for the remote area surrounding the Staley Complex: Portions of Forest Roads 2134, 2154 and 2143 are closed. The fires are located 28 miles south of Oakridge. There are no impacts to Hwy 58 or travel in the Oakridge area. Forest Road 21 remains open. See map for closure details:
