Summary: The Bald Sisters fire has not grown
since yesterday. There are single trees
igniting within the interior of the fire.
Crews along with heavy equipment made excellent progress building the containment
lines.
As of
today, there are no Red Flag Warnings in effect. Firefighters will continue to remove debris
and fell dangerous trees adjacent to the fireline. Heavy equipment has worked in several areas
to widen the fireline, reducing firefighter exposures to risk.
To date
there have been no injuries to firefighters or the public. No structures are threatened.
There was 0.17
of an inch of rain on the fire overnight. This cooled the fire, but did not
extinguish it. As the day heats up, the fire will become more active and smoke
may become visible. The fire area had
numerous lightning strikes. Firefighters
will be watching for new fire starts from last night’s lightning as they are
working today.
